Proper Teeth Brushing Scottsdale, Chandler, Mesa

Proper teeth brushing is not only a must, but a great way to feel terrific every day.  Proper teeth brushing is renewing. A fresh, clean oral cavity is inviting.  Yet, if performed incorrectly, you may be doing more harm than good. So, we’d like to bring you some tips for proper teeth brushing. In this way, we hope to help you put your best face forward every day.

Number 1 Tip: Visit your dentist twice a year for a professional cleaning. Each time you do, you might be surprised to learn more tips.  For example, there may be one area of your mouth that is difficult to see or reach. Your dental hygienist can provide special tips to teach you how to reach difficult areas, such as, how you can position your mouth for assured cleaning. The next time you visit, your dental hygienist can tell you if you’ve successfully tackled that area during your regular cleanings.

Number 2 Tip: The best approach to brushing is to brush twice a day. Brush for two minutes each session in a small circular motion, reaching the gum line. Your dental hygienist can tell you how much pressure to put on your brush so you don’t brush too hard or too soft.  Your hygienist can also tell you what type of brush to use for your teeth.

Number 3 Tip: Floss daily.  Flossing removes debris that is caught between your teeth from eating. Food debris is a leading cause of cavities, gum disease and tooth loss, which is why it is vital to floss between every tooth daily or more often when needed.

Number 4 Tip: Use mouthwash at bedtime. Mouthwash is not only breath refreshing, mouthwash with fluoride assists in reducing the risk of cavities and helps to prevent or manage periodontal disease. Mouthwash does this by reducing unhealthy bacteria in your mouth and preventing plaque build-up.

Number 5 Tip: Maintain your tooth brush. Change out your tooth brushes every two months and store your tooth brush in a case.
